Nowadays, computers are described using many distinct terms.  Typically, simply the capacity, the anticipated use or how big the computer is indicated.  However, what many of us don't understand is that there are actually different kinds of computers.
 
Kinds of Computers

1.  PC
 
A computer designed to be used by one individual is described as an individual computer (PC).   Originally, personal computers were known as microcomputers since they were complete computers using a more compact size.  

2.  Desktop

3.  Laptop
 
Laptops, also called notebooks, are small-sized mobile computers can be put on the lap and used there.  
 
4.  Netbook

5.  PDA
 
These are touchscreen devices and don't have keyboards.  Typically, PDAs are extremely lightweight, smaller than a paperback book and have a good battery life.

6.  Workstation
 
A workstation is another kind of computer.  A workstation is only a desktop computer with added memory, a more powerful processor, and improved capabilities to do a unique group of activity, like game development, or 3D graphics.
 
7.  Server
 
 Generally, servers have big hard drives, a great deal of memory and powerful chips.
 
8.  Mainframe
 
Previously, mainframes was computers which were so huge they would fill an entire room or even an entire floor.  
 
9.  Supercomputer
 
The purchase price of a supercomputer could be anywhere from hundreds or thousands to tens of thousands of dollars.   Cray Supercomputers have assembled the well-known supercomputers.

10.  Wearable Computer
 
Wearable computers are a brand new computing trend.  Today, typical computer software, like calendar/scheduler, database, multimedia and e-mail are integrated into mobile phones, clothes, visors and watches.
